A long Vatican gallery lined with marble statues under a coffered, skylit vault

A day in Rome

The Vatican Museums, without the crowds

The great museums deserve more than simply being seen. They deserve your time, your attention and, above all, enough quiet to let them speak.

Getting there

1 h 45 each way by car — on Platinum, one of the return transfers becomes a scenic 20-minute helicopter flight

There is no question the Vatican Museums have the potential to offer some of the most fascinating experiences one can imagine in terms of timeless artworks in Rome, peaking with the breathtaking Sistine Chapel. And art is, and should be, for everyone.

Yet it is likewise undeniable that extremely long queues under Rome's blazing sun or in a downpour, and the breath of hundreds of other people around you inside the museums, can easily downgrade and spoil such a magical experience.

Wouldn't it be just perfect to hear only your steps and your guide's voice? To pause the moment you feel a specific artwork speaking to your soul — and this deserves time. Wouldn't it be just ideal to allow the art to overwhelm you, rather than a pressing crowd?

Picture the echoes of the stream of people slowly fading away as you enter those magnificent halls for your most intimate and mesmerizing connection with art. People around you, especially when shoulder to shoulder, can become a physical barrier between you and beauty.

At Il Casone we always strive to craft the most intimate experiences. The Vatican Museums had to be no exception. Finally we managed to find “the key” to make all this possible, but we would rather preserve the magic of a surprise, and so we will not make it public.
